I Feel GRRRRRREAT!

Feeling really good. Actually enjoying getting up at 4am now to be working out. On 1.5 hour workout days I just dont have time to do my hair and makeup after the shower, and on the shorter workout days I do have that time in the morning. Im getting better every day at the videos. Today was Kenpo X, like a kick boxing one that I have done one other time, and parts of it are in the other videos and before I was so frustrated I couldnt get any of the moves down. I felt they were so complicated with all the kicks, and jabs, uppercuts, hooks, etc. but today it just clicked and I got it! I was so happy I could have cried. (Before I was so frustrated I DID cry.)

Anyway, eating is good too. Im not sticking to the diet totally, but I have for sure cut out all unnecessary carbs and the ones I do eat are whole grain and healthy. For the last 3 nights in a row I really wanted dessert but I brushed my teeth after dinner and just said, you know, I dont need it! I am telling myself Ill let myself have a little after I get to where I want to be. But until then, there is really no reason to have something bad here and there unless I REALLY crave it and Im not really craving anything since I am eating so many snacks so often and its all lean protein to keep you not hungry.

Well we will see if I can do my workout routines this weekend. Its crazy. Sat is Venissa's baby shower up in Temecula area, then that evening is a huge work event that I am responsible for, then Sunday is the big day - Aurora's bday! WAHOO!

Getting Into the Routine

Well Sunday and Monday I was unable to work out. I was really bummed, but this morning woke up at 4am ready to get back into it and had a great workout. It felt great and I am actually really enjoying my morning workouts. I am finding that Im not as tired as I thought I would be, and it is such a treat to come home from work and not have to do anything different from what I have always done because I already worked out for the day. And the workouts are getting better; Im better at the moves, and can do more reps, and my flexibility and mobility has increased. And Im only on the second week! Wow, cant wait to see where I am in another month.

The diet is getting easier too. I am doing the best I can, still enjoying myself but just holding back more than before and making different choices; focusing on lean protein to keep my hunger down with less calories and room in my tummy.

Overall Im feeling great! I almost want to go for a run in the afternoon when I get home, even though Ive already worked out for the day! I have more energy in general. :0)

First Week, Complete!

.

Well I made it through the first week. YES. So today's video was the first repeat. I did much better at it this time around. And it is getting easier to get up in the morning. Not easy, just easier. Doable. And I feel so great afteward, its worth it. I am trying to go to bed much earlier though. Its so nice because at the end of the day, I dont have to make room in my normal afternoon/evening schedule (besides go to bed early), I feel like Im on vacation for the rest of the day after I work out. I weighed in at 144.4 this morning (from a high of like 148 when I started a week ago), so we will see how good I can be over the weekend (Happy Hour tonight may be my downfall), and how I can keep up the routine!

Before Pictures

.

My Before Pictures... ewwwwwwww.

You dont realize how bad you look till you see yourself in a picture. Somehow looking in the mirror isnt the same. You suck in, stand up tall, turn to the perfect angle, then say, I look pretty good! But the camera catches you in the natural position without you getting to correct to a more flattering angle, and thats what you look like darlin'!

Am I dead? No, I guess not but my body sure is...

.

So I started the program on Friday.

First of all, I LOVE it. They do a great job of giving you a variety of exercises to keep things interesting. They do a nice gradual warm up before getting into the hard stuff and stretch and cool you down too - they dont rush through anything. Good thing too cause each session is anywhere from 55-90 min. There is a nice count down for the whole workout at the bottom of the screen and then another one for each exercise too. Tony is great because he gives you good tips throughout the workout, and not just ones for exercise, they are eating tips, etc. So it really feels like you have a "life" coach to get you in better health. The other people in the video are a good mix too; they have an extreme person who is like the best at whatever video you are doing, then they have someone in the middle and someone who is not as good at it. So then Tony goes around during the workout and points out all the variations and modifications if they are too hard for you, and he corrects people so you can see the "real life" mistakes that you would be making and how to correct the moves.

Second of all, ITS KICKING MY ASS. Oh my goodness, it is seriously for crazy people. But hey, desperate times call for desperate measures. And I have a very short amount of time to get into the best shape of my life before getting pregnant again. Although I am very sore and tired, I feel great. I feel energized (yes I know I am contradicting myself), and clean. Well part of that is just that Im showering more. Yes, TMI but get over it, you dont know me if you are surprised. I used to shower once a day, or every other day if I was lazy, but hey, if you dont do anything its no big deal. But when you are hard core working out, you have to shower as soon as you are done, no question. And the shower feels GREAT after a long workout. It doesnt feel like a chore like it used to.

I have not lost any weight yet, but of course its only been 4 days, so we will see.

It is really hard to fit it in. Friday I took the day off and I had Aurora. I waited till Ryan got home at 330 then did my work out, showered and we left to go visit Melinda & Nathan at Grandma's house. Then Saturday, I did it before going to Luke's 1st birthday party, Sunday I was able to work out in the morning while Aurora was taking her nap before we went to my Mom's house, yesterday I did it after I got home from work and Ryan watched Aurora and made dinner (thanks honey) and this morning I had to get up at 4:30am to do the workout since Ryan is going out for a beer tapping tonight. So you for sure have to plan for it and there are a million other things that you could be doing with that time, but whats more important than your health? So Ill just have to get used to working it in.

I am not being totally successful at the diet. The first phase, the fat shredder phase is a modified Adkins diet; mostly protein, with only a few servings total of dairy, fat and carbs per day. Its really hard to work that much lean protein in, and keep access to that food every 2-3 hours. So Im just doing the best I can and avoiding carbs. With the crazy workout schedule I will probably end up taking a rest day once a week or so, maybe going for a jog instead, so I dont expect I will get the same results as the example people in the program, or it will take me longer to get there. But hey, anything is an improvement. :0)

Ready To Start

.

Ok Ive done the prep. I watched the How to Bring it video. I recorded my measurements, took the before and after photos, took the fit test, have the equipment, including the pull up bar in our living room. (Thanks Ryan!) I am getting my body fat tested tomorrow, and starting the program either this weekend or next week!

After 4 min - 96

In discussing it with Ryan, I think the only way for me to do the workouts every day is to get up early at 4:30 and do them then... because our evenings are already hectic as it is with Aurora, dinner, clean up the house, and sometimes we have plans, etc. So I will end up skipping days unless I make sure to do it. So we will try the early morning thing. The only downside is less sleep. It will be great to start the day ahead, showered and able to just relax and enjoy the whole rest of the day. I will actually have more time in the evening since I wont be trying to work out whenever or showering then.

Another option might be to have Ryan always pick up Aurora and come home and feed her. Meanwhile I get off a little earlier, can get a headstart on my workout and would finish by the time he is done feeding her. We will see!

I need to download the before pics and post them. They are sad news. I mean yeah of course they are going to look bad because they are not using all the tricks us women always use to look skinner; stand up tall, wear black, 3/4 pose, etc. But MAN have I let myself go! Not that I ever had a supermodel figure, even before puberty. But it is really gross.
